New Troop & Equipment: Clash of Clans March Update Full Details

The March Update is here! New Troop: Furnace, New Equipment – Noble Iron, New pet: Sneezy, New building levels for TH17, New Achievements, Balance Changes, Bug Fixes, and more!

New Dark Elixir Troop: Furnace

Furnace is a “troop” that doesn’t move and doesn’t attack, instead, it spawns over time a number of Firemites which are tiny quick troops that shoot themselves at the nearest buildings, doing damage over time. Mechanically this is how they work:

  • Furnace
    • Has no move speed, attack speed, target type, preference, etc, just “exists”!
    • Spawns Firemites over 60 seconds (~1 Firemite every 3 seconds).
    • Can spawn a maximum number of Firemites. This number and the level of Firemites spawned increases with the Furnace level.
    • Damages itself over time. If destroyed before spawning all Firemites, those Firemites are not spawned and are “lost”.
    • If healed, eventually the Furnace will stop spawning Firemites even if still alive.
    • It can move very slowly in the village context, for example, to go from barrack to army camps.

  • Firemite
    • Has fast move speed, attack speed, targets anything, and low hp
    • When it attacks a building, it shoots themselves at the building doing a small instant damage and creating fire under the building.
    • The fire does area damage over time to the building
    • Multiple pools of fire in the same place do not stack up damage.

  • Details
    • Unlocks at TH15
    • Has 4 levels at launch, 2 in TH15, 1 in TH16 and 1 in TH17

New Common Equipment – Noble Iron

  • Common equipment for the Minion Prince
  • Passive: When MP is deployed, his first few attack projectiles deal more damage, fly faster, and have longer range (similar to Super Minion ability)
  • Equipment levels increase: number of boosted shots, their damage and range, and his general attack speed in the battle
  • Releases together with the Update. Unlocked by Blacksmith level 5 (Town Hall 12).

New pet: Sneezy

  • Sneezy is a flying pet who stays behind his Hero, not attacking, and spawning tanky air units called Snotties for protection.
  • Sneezy gets (visually) enraged when his Hero dies and starts attacking defenses.
  • Snotties:
    • Target anything
    • Fly
    • Tanky, low DPS
    • Can only have 2 spawned at a time
  • Some details:
    • Pet upgrade levels give: higher-level spawned units and better stats for Pet 
    • Unlocked by Pet House level 11, which can be done in TH17.
    • Launches with 10 levels, all to be done in TH17.

New Achievements

New achievements have been added for destroying the new building types added with Townhall 15 and 17!

  • “Multi-Archer Tower Terminator”
  • “Ricochet Cannon Crusher”
  • “Firespitter Finisher”
  • “Multi-Gear Tower Trampler”

Balance Changes

  • The housing Space of a few secondary troops was adjusted:
    • Lava Pup, Ice Pup, and Lavaloon Pup housing space reduced from 2 to 1
    • Skeleton Trap Air Skeletons housing space reduced from 2 to 1
    • Yetimite and Icemite housing space reduced from 3 to 1
    • Big Boy housing space reduced from 20 to 10
    • Druid Bear form housing space reduced from 16 to 10

Economy Changes

  • Many cost and time reductions are coming for various TH levels, the significant ones are mentioned below:
  • Bomb Tower_11: 15.3M to 8.5M Gold (-6.8M, 44.44%)
  • Barracks_18: 21M to 15M Elixir (-6M, 28.57%)
  • Air Defense_13: 11.5M to 8M Gold (-3.5M, 30.43%)
  • Archer Tower_18: 4M to 2M Gold (-2M, 50%)
  • AirSweeper_2: 0.6M to 0.3M Gold (-0.3M, 50%)
  • Air Defense_14: 15.4M to 9M Gold (-6.4M, 41.56%)
  • Barbarian_12: 12M to 8M Elixir (-4M, 33.33%)
  • Wall Breaker_12: 16M to 11M Elixir (-5M, 31.25%)
  • Archer_12: 14M to 9M Gold (-5M, 35.71%)

Other Changes

  • Builder Gold and Builder Elixir rewards from Builder Base battles have been increased significantly for almost all of the leagues.
  • The Wall Upgrade Tool now allows you to select walls based on your current Wall Ring inventory, rather than just your resource cap.
  • The Wall Upgrade Tool will now allow you to select all 325 walls at the same time.
  • Since Builders no longer spend their precious time removing obstacles, the Villagers have taken over the job.
  • Notifications for supercharge completion will now be shown with the proper charge level and text.
  • Changing Grand Warden between Air and Ground mode in challenge levels no longer persists in your home village army.
  • Do not allow training units that are larger than the total housing space in your army camps (only applicable to the old training system).
  • Updated layout for the hero skin previews.
  • Claiming an achievement now comes with a shower of Gems
  • Improved the Troop Launcher projectile trail visuals.
  • Grant automatic progress correctly for Season Challenge upgrade tasks in case you’re almost maxed out to ensure the task is always complete (or auto-completed in case you have no upgrades remaining).

Bug Fixes

  • Auto completing upgrade tasks of season challenges no longer works in various cases
  • Gold Pass promotional UI obscures Supercharge depletion UI in Info screens
  • Price disappears from Cosmetics after cancelling purchase
  • BA recurring tasks not always working
  • Supercharges are falsely advertised as levels in notifications.
  • Price not aligned for buying skins through Hero Hall wardrobe
  • League Shop notifications instantly refresh for already owned equipment
  • Checkmark to place Multi-Gear Tower doesn’t appear for some users
  • Troop levels are not getting properly updated on the info screen if they are upgraded by gemming
  • Pirate Battle Copter skin has pilot offset wrong
  • Pet preview scenarios have Hero Equipment
  • Alchemist can convert to the same resource
  • Buy button text is aligned to the left when accessing hero skin previews via Hero Hall
  • Army Screen closes if opened through Hero Hall when attempting to finish training with gems
  • Master Builder boat is always present in Fire and Ice Scenery
  • Grand Warden air/ground mode selection persists from challenge levels to multiplayer battles
  • Minion Prince chooses defensive patrol path using ground pathfinding
  • An extra corner wall piece shown in some defense building upgrade preview screen
